5 Self Care Practices To Avoid Lockdown Burnout

We’ve been in this lockdown for more than a year now, I am aware that most of us are already on the verge of breaking point. Here are 5 simple self-care practices that I go to when I’m feeling overwhelmed, rundown or overstimulated that allow me to replenish my energy and keep my cup full.

Finding a new hobby – Increased time at home can be an excellent opportunity to build or rediscover different types of hobbies. Picking up new or old hobbies brings us joy and enriches our lives. Hobbies are an essential way for us to connect with our passions, identity, and each other. There are plenty of hobbies you can try.

Whatever hobby you choose or pick up, it will help you ease the COVID-19 lockdown burnout or fatigue.

Working-out – At a time like this, it’s very important for people of all ages and abilities to be as active as possible. Working out will not only give you a good figure but it will also help you stay healthy. Go on and get your running shoes and start doing some cardio exercises. Remember that we should always remain healthy especially during this pandemic.

Learn a new skill/s – We should maximize our time during this lockdown period. Picking up new life skills is a great way to spend your time. You can attend webinars to learn web designing, digital marketing or you can even go on youtube and learn how to bake or cook. Adding one or two skills is better than nothing at all. It is possible to learn new things and skills despite the lockdown. We are already in an advanced world wherein almost everything is within the tip of our fingertips.

Read books – I bet that almost all of us have several books that we bought years ago but haven’t had the chance to read. Now is the perfect time to grab that book and start reading it. It is not yet too late to indulge yourself in a new world of action or fantasy!

Reconnect with your friends and family – Most of us are guilty of working too hard that we do not have enough time to spend with our friends and family. This pandemic has brought us the opportunity to check on them and reconnect with them. With the help of Facebook, zoom, and facetime you can do yoga together with your friends via zoom or even have an online “inuman” session with the barkada! You can do any activity you wish to do with them via online.

I have only listed 5 self-care practices for now, but, there are other several ways for you to avoid that covid-19 lockdown burn-out and fatigue. Keeping your mental health is as important as making your physical body healthy. Make sure to check on both aspects from time to time.
