“You know, ang virus is always mutating and is always evolving,” Saloma said during the Laging Handa briefing.

“So far now, the most evolved variant of SARS-CoV-2 that we have is this Omicron variant with so many mutations,” she continued.

Omicron has 50 mutations, according to Tulio de Oliveira, virologist at the University of KwaZulu-Natal and Network for Genomics Surveillance in South Africa.

In the meantime, the 46 mutations are not spreading a lot, Saloma mentioned.

“Of course, we can’t absolutely be positive na hindi siya pupunta sa atin (that it will no longer enter the country but to date in the symptoms are that ihu version seems to be localized in France and in reality, even in France it’s now not clearly increasing a lot,” she defined. Saloma stated that the authorities have to beef up border controls and advised the public to get vaccinated to save you similarly covid-19 transmission.

“Pa’no natin ma-comfortable na hindi ito mapunta sa atin (how are we able to secure that we are able to no longer get the virus)? As an awful lot as possible, of direction, strengthen our border controls and at the equal time, for my part and collectively, very very crucial po na magpa-vaccine tayo at saka protected tayo (that we get vaccinated and guarded) in opposition to a lot of these editions,” she stated. The branch of health on Monday stated that there is no detected IHU version inside the country.
