The fifteenth full-length installment in the One Piece film series, One Piece Film: Red, is an anime fantasy action-adventure movie from Japan that was written and illustrated by Eiichiro Oda. It was directed by Goro Taniguchi and produced by Toei Animation.
A teaser trailer and poster were released on November 21, 2021, the day after the episode was shown, in honor of the anniversary of the premiere of One Piece anime episode 1000. The movie had its global premiere on July 22, 2022, in Nippon Budokan, Tokyo, to commemorate the 25th anniversary of the One Piece manga. It was released in theaters on August 6, 2022, in Japan. The story is said to center on a new female character named Uta.
The most famous singer in the world is Uta. Uta, whose voice has been dubbed “otherworldly” and is known for hiding her identity when performing, will now go on stage to play live for the first time. The voice that the entire world has been waiting for is ready to echo as the space fills with all different types of Uta fans—excited pirates, the Navy keeping a close eye on everything, and the Straw Hats led by Luffy, who came to enjoy her thunderous performance. She is Red-Haired Shanks’ “daughter,” a startling revelation for the plot.
The movie had its global premiere on July 22, 2022, in Nippon Budokan, Tokyo, and was theatrically distributed in Japan on August 6, 2022, by the movie’s distributor, Toei Company, on 495 screens. One Piece screened the film in IMAX for the first time at 27 cinemas throughout Japan. Additionally, MX4D, 4DX, and Dolby Atmos versions are offered.
The movie had its French premiere on August 6, 2022, at Le Grand Rex in Paris on 481 screens. Pathé Films distributed it on August 10, 2022, on 631 screens.
On August 19, 2022, the movie is slated for release in Taiwan. On August 21, 2022, the Beijing International Film Festival will have the movie’s Chinese premiere. In the fall of 2022, Crunchyroll plans to distribute it in the United States, Canada, Australia, and New Zealand. Anime Limited will distribute the movie in the fall of 2022 in the UK and Ireland.
A local premiere movie screening is slated for September 2–4, 2022, at the ODEX Film Festival at Cathay Cineplex Downtown in Singapore and for September 17–18, 2022, in the Philippines. Odex confirmed that they would distribute the movie in Singapore, the Philippines, and India. According to CBI Pictures, the movie will have a limited release in Indonesia from September 16 to 18, 2022. In Germany, Crunchyroll will release the film in Germany and Austria on October 13, 2022. PVR Pictures has announced that the movie will be released in India in October 2022 in partnership with Odex.
